Tank Stars 2 uses flatter, more saturated art than the original, with a redesigned health and turn banner.
Tank Stars 2 mod apk is the modified build of Playgendary’s sequel, unlocked and frozen at version 1.0.1. The important thing to know before you download it is that the game is discontinued. It was soft launched on Google Play at the end of 2021, pulled a few weeks later, and never returned. An APK is now the only way to play it, and the package will not run on some modern phones. If you want the game that is still supported, the tank stars mod apk for the original is the one to take.
Tank Stars 2 is not on the Play Store, and here is why
Searching for Tank Stars 2 on Google Play returns nothing. The listing for com.playgendary.tankstars2 is gone, and that is not a regional restriction or a temporary removal.
The timeline is short. Playgendary put the game into a limited release in December 2021. Its final update landed on 21 December 2021. It was taken off Google Play on 10 January 2022, with roughly 22,000 downloads to its name. Tracking sites that still list it label it as no longer in operation.
The reception explains the decision. Contemporary reviews described a game that was structurally unfinished, with a single play button and very little around it. Playgendary appears to have tested the concept, concluded the sequel was not ready, and put its effort back into the original, which now has more than 100 million installs and continues to receive updates.
Because development stopped, version 1.0.1 is the last build that will ever exist. There is no patch coming for any of the problems described further down this page. That is unusual for this kind of download and it changes how you should think about installing it.
What is actually in the package
Mirrors disagree about this file. One lists it at 79 MB, another at 83 MB. The copy hosted here measures 63,861,054 bytes, which is 61 MB, and every figure below comes from reading the binary manifest inside that exact file rather than from a listing.
| Package | com.playgendary.tankstars2 |
|---|---|
| Version | 1.0.1, internal version code 464 |
| File size | 61 MB, measured |
| Minimum Android | 5.0 Lollipop, minimum SDK 21 |
| Built against | Android 11, target SDK 30 |
| Processor | armeabi-v7a only, 32-bit |
| Engine | Unity, IL2CPP |
| Permissions | Internet, vibrate, wake lock. Nothing unusual. |
The permission list is worth a moment. Three permissions, all of them ordinary for a game. No location, no contacts, no storage. That is a cleaner profile than the original Tank Stars, whose Play Store data safety entry declares that it may share location and financial information.
The 32-bit problem, and whether your phone has it
This package contains only armeabi-v7a code. That is the older 32-bit ARM architecture. There is no 64-bit slice in the file at all.
For most of the last decade that was fine, because 64-bit Android phones kept a 32-bit compatibility layer in the processor. Newer high-end chips have dropped it. Arm’s Cortex-X3 and Cortex-A715 cores, which appear in flagship phones from 2023 onward, execute 64-bit code only. On one of those devices this APK installs without complaint and then closes the instant you open it, with no message explaining why.
There is no fix. The 32-bit code cannot be translated on the device, the developer will not be shipping a 64-bit build, and no setting changes the outcome.
| Your device | Will it run? |
|---|---|
| Phone from roughly 2015 to 2022 | Yes, this is the sweet spot |
| Budget or mid range phone, any recent year | Usually yes, these keep 32-bit support |
| 2023 or newer flagship with a Cortex-X3 or A715 class core | Installs, then closes on launch |
| Apple Silicon Mac through BlueStacks Air | Yes, ARM runs natively |
| Windows emulator | Yes, and 32-bit ARM translation is better supported than 64-bit |
This is the exact opposite of the original. The current Tank Stars build is 64-bit only and fails on old hardware. The sequel is 32-bit only and fails on new hardware. If one of them will not start on your phone, the other one probably will.
What the mod unlocks
Unlimited money and gems
Both currencies are set high enough to be unspendable, which in a game this small means you have everything within a minute of opening it. In the retail build the currencies exist to pace a progression system that was never finished, so removing them arguably gives you the game Playgendary intended to build rather than the one it shipped.
Unlocked everything
Tanks and weapons are all available from the start. The roster is considerably smaller than the original’s, and that is not a fault of the mod. The sequel launched with a fraction of the content and never received the updates that would have filled it out.
Offline play
The game runs without a connection, which matters more here than it usually would. There are no servers left to talk to, so anything that depended on a backend is gone regardless. Treat it as a single player game against the computer.
Two player mode
The original Tank Stars is built around playing another person, either passing one phone back and forth or matching online. The sequel’s two player support is the part most affected by the shutdown.
Local play against a friend on the same device still works, because it never needed a server. Online matchmaking does not, and no mod can restore it, since the fault is that the service no longer exists rather than anything in the package. If two player is the reason you are here, the original game is the one you want.

How to install it
- Check your phone is not a 2023 or newer flagship. If it is, read the 32-bit section above first, because the install will succeed and the game still will not start.
- Free up about 200 MB. The 61 MB package expands during installation and Unity writes more on first launch.
- Download the file from the button on this page.
- Open it. Android asks whether to allow installs from whichever app you used, your browser or your file manager. The permission is per app on Android 8 and newer.
- Turn on “Allow from this source”, then go back to the installer and tap Install.
- Open the game. If it closes immediately, your processor has no 32-bit support and nothing will change that.
There is no conflict with the original Tank Stars, because the two use different package names. You can keep both installed side by side.
Is there a Tank Stars 3, 4 or 5?
No. There is one sequel, Tank Stars 2, and it is the discontinued title on this page. Nothing called Tank Stars 3, Tank Stars 4 or Tank Stars 5 has ever been published by Playgendary or Casual Azur Games.
Searches for higher numbers usually come from one of two places. Some players are thinking of the tank tiers inside the original game, where tanks are ranked by level and a tier 5 machine is a real thing to want. Others have seen fan videos that number their episodes. Either way, the original Tank Stars and this sequel are the only two games in the series.
Limitations worth knowing before you install
The content is thin. This was a soft launch build that never grew, and no mod can add levels that were never made. Expect an hour or two of play, not a game you return to.
Nothing will ever be patched. The usual caveat on a modified build is that it stops working when the developer updates the app. Here the opposite applies: nothing will ever update, so the build is stable forever and equally frozen forever.
No cloud saves and no accounts. Progress lives on the device. There is no sign in, so there is nothing to sync and nothing to recover if you uninstall.
No support from anyone. Playgendary stopped supporting this game in 2022, and the person who patched the package is anonymous.
Frequently asked questions
Is Tank Stars 2 on the Play Store?
No. Playgendary soft launched it in December 2021 and removed it from Google Play on 10 January 2022, after roughly 22,000 downloads. The listing for com.playgendary.tankstars2 no longer exists, so an APK is the only way to install it now.
What is the Tank Stars 2 release date?
It reached Google Play in December 2021 as a limited release and its last update was 21 December 2021. It was withdrawn the following month. Version 1.0.1 is the final build and no further releases are planned.
Does the mod unlock everything in Tank Stars 2?
Yes. Tanks and weapons are available from the start and both currencies are set high enough to be unspendable. The roster is small because the game shipped unfinished, which is a limit of the game rather than of the mod.
Why does Tank Stars 2 close as soon as I open it?
Your processor almost certainly has no 32-bit support. The package contains only armeabi-v7a code, and flagship chips from 2023 onward such as the Cortex-X3 and A715 run 64-bit code only. The install succeeds and the launch fails. There is no fix.
Can I play Tank Stars 2 with 2 players?
Locally yes, on one device, because that never needed a server. Online matchmaking no, because the service was shut down with the game. A modified package cannot restore a backend that does not exist. For online duels, play the original Tank Stars.
Is there a Tank Stars 5?
No. Tank Stars and Tank Stars 2 are the only games in the series. Nothing numbered 3, 4 or 5 has been published. Searches for Tank Stars 5 usually mean the tier 5 tanks inside the original game.
How big is the Tank Stars 2 APK?
The file hosted here is 63,861,054 bytes, which is 61 MB. Other sites list it at 79 MB or 83 MB. Those figures come from repackaged copies or from listing metadata rather than from the file itself, so check the size before you install anything from a mirror.
Does Tank Stars 2 have unlimited money and gems?
In this modified build, yes, both. In the retail build they were earned currencies feeding a progression system Playgendary never finished, so unlocking them gives you access to everything the game actually contains.
Is Tank Stars 2 better than the original?
No. The sequel has cleaner art but far less content, no online play and no future updates. The original has a much larger tank roster, active tournaments and a live player base. Install the sequel out of curiosity, not as a replacement.
Is it safe to install a discontinued game?
The package requests only internet, vibrate and wake lock, which is a modest profile. The real caveat is the same as any resigned APK: it was patched by an anonymous third party and nobody audits it. Install it on a device you are relaxed about.
Worth installing?
Tank Stars 2 is a curiosity rather than a game you will keep. It is the abandoned sequel to something much bigger, preserved at version 1.0.1 because Playgendary stopped working on it in January 2022. The mod removes the currency walls, which is the right way to see everything it contains in one sitting. If your phone is from the last two or three years and it refuses to start, that is the 32-bit limit and not something you can work around.
